Glutathione

One of the most significant biological antioxidants, glutathione is a naturally occurring tripeptide made up of β-glutamic acid, cysteine, and glycine. Glutathione exhibits a variety of biological activities, including scavenging free radicals, detoxifying dangerous substances, and preserving cellular redox balance. 

There are two forms of glutathione: reduced (GSH) and oxidized (GSSG). The ratio of these forms is a crucial measure of the oxidative state of cells. The peptide works by directly scavenging reactive oxygen species, conjugating harmful substances for removal, and regenerating additional antioxidants such as vitamins C and E.
