5-Amino-1MQ

5-Amino-1MQ selectively blocks the enzyme nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT). NNMT normally converts nicotinamide into N1-methylnicotinamide, but by inhibiting this process, 5-Amino-1MQ may help preserve nicotinamide levels and increase the availability of NAD+, an important coenzyme for cellular energy and metabolism. 

This molecule may increase the availability of nicotinamide, a precursor required for NAD+ synthesis. Higher intracellular NAD+ levels may stimulate Sirtuin 1, a regulatory protein associated with DNA repair, inflammation control, and metabolic function. 

5-Amino-1MQ has shown several possible therapeutic effects in early preclinical animal and cell-culture research, including:
