About Semaglutide
Semaglutide is a synthetic 31-amino-acid glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. Structural modifications, including a fatty diacid side chain that promotes reversible albumin binding, extend its circulating half-life. Semaglutide has been extensively evaluated in preclinical and clinical research and is among the most thoroughly studied GLP-1 receptor agonists.
A substantial body of research has examined Semaglutide in both in vitro and in vivo models, as well as large randomized clinical trials. These studies are investigating GLP-1 receptor activation in pancreatic β-cells and other target tissues, along with its effects on glucose homeostasis, body weight regulation, cardiovascular outcomes, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), neuroinflammation, and neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease.
