Melanotan II

Melanotan II is an analogue of α-MSH, designed to improve stability and prolong biological activity relative to the native hormone. It functions as a non-selective melanocortin receptor agonist with activity at multiple receptor subtypes, including:

• MC1R 
• MC3R
• MC4R
• MC5R

Its cyclic structure contains a disulphide bridge that enhances structural stability and increases resistance to enzymatic degradation compared with many linear peptide analogues.

Melanotan II is used to investigate melanocortin receptor pharmacology, melanogenesis, pigmentation pathways, and neuroendocrine signalling. Its broad receptor activity profile supports the study of diverse melanocortin-mediated processes, including energy homeostasis and neural signalling.
