ACE-031

ACE-031 is a fusion protein made by combining the extracellular ligand-binding part of the ActRIIB receptor with a human IgG1 Fc region. Under normal conditions, these growth factors attach to ActRIIB and activate signals that reduce muscle growth and increase muscle breakdown. ACE-031 circulates in the bloodstream and captures these ligands before they can reach their natural receptors on muscle cells.

By blocking this interaction, ACE-031 reduces myostatin activity, allowing muscle cells to grow and increase lean body mass. The Fc portion also extends its half-life, so it stays active in the body for a longer period.
